Peak District National Park via Chesterfield
You can travel directly every hour to Chesterfield for onward connecting bus services.
CrossCountry trains link with Route 170 which serves Chesterfield rail station with Peak District National Park tourism destinations such as Chatsworth House and scenic Bakewell all year round and runs hourly during the daytime, seven days per week. We have teamed up with the bus operator, Stagecoach, to offer better integration between buses and trains at Chesterfield rail station.
Route 170 also offers the opportunity to connect at Bakewell for regular Trans Peak bus services on to Ashford-in-the-Water, Buxton, Rowsley (for Peak Village shopping) and Matlock. This gives the option of a circular day out, returning by the scenic Derwent Valley Line from Matlock to Derby with East Midlands Railway.
The full timetables for the Route 170 bus link from Chesterfield rail station can be downloaded below.
The Peak Sightseer open top buses start on 24 May, running daily until 21 September, then weekends only from 27 September - until 25 October.

Worcester city centre via Worcestershire Parkway
Worcestershire Parkway Railway Station is now served by a much-improved CrossCountry service.
For the first time, our expanded May 2025 timetable introduces opportunities for passengers to board direct hourly trains to Bristol and Edinburgh, offering passengers greater choice, convenience, and flexibility. The improved service also provides two trains per hour running to and from Birmingham New Street.
Alongside improved rail services, passengers can access Worcestershire Parkway station via sustainable travel options, with the station being served by the X50 bus service. This service was enhanced earlier this year, as part of Worcestershire County Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan and now runs every 30 minutes during the daytime, providing regular, direct access to the railway station from Worcester, Evesham and Pershore.
The X50 bus timetable can be viewed here.
Fox Connect
CrossCountry is pleased to support the new Fox Connect service, which conveniently links rural villages and out-of-town employment areas in South Leicestershire with Hinckley and Narborough railway stations. This is a Demand Responsive Transport initiative funded by the Department for Transport, and we are delighted to be the train operator in the region the new easy-to-book transport service serves.
Other rail-bus links from CrossCountry stations
There are lots of other destinations which don’t have railway stations you can get to by using rail-bus links from CrossCountry stations. These bus services generally arrive and depart from stops conveniently situated outside, or very near to, the station entrance, and in many cases, bus timetables are planned to connect with principal long-distance trains.
The majority of bus companies serving CrossCountry stations accept contactless payments, making bus connections extra easy.
