Travel First Class on CrossCountry Trains
At CrossCountry, we pride ourselves on making every journey comfortable and enjoyable for our passengers. Whether you’re taking a 10-minute train to work or travelling from Edinburgh all the way to Penzance, we make sure our trains are safe, clean, and comfortable.
In our First Class carriages, you can enjoy the best seats in the house. And while we're confident you'll have a comfortable journey anywhere on our trains, there are plenty of reasons to upgrade and elevate your CrossCountry experience.
Do all CrossCountry services offer First Class?
First Class is available on routes operated by our Voyager trains**, while all Turbostar trains offer 100% Standard Class seating. Voyager trains make up most of our fleet, so the majority of CrossCountry services offer First Class travel, but make sure to check before you travel to be certain that First Class is available.
What is included with First Class train tickets?
While different train operators offer different levels of First Class service, at CrossCountry we like to make sure our First Class passengers can make the most of their journey. A First Class ticket comes with larger, more spacious seating, and subject to availability on some services, non-alcoholic drinks and snacks are available for First Class * customers.
Benefits of First Class Train Tickets
Our First Class carriages have larger seats so you can kick back and relax. In fact, our First Class seats are larger than in our Standard carriages, meaning you have extra space to enjoy the journey.
When booking train travel, table seats are especially in-demand. So First Class passengers can rest assured that First Class carriages have more table space to help you make the most of the journey. Whether you’re chatting with your friends or getting work done, extra table space comes in very handy.

How to save on First Class train tickets
Did you know that you can use Railcards when booking a First Class ticket? If you have a Railcard of any variety, such as a 16-25 Railcard or Two Together Railcard, you can save even more on booking First Class rail travel and enjoy first class for less.
Additionally, you can make savings on First Class travel by choosing off-peak times. Travelling with off-peak train tickets means that trains are often quieter, and your tickets are cheaper. This goes for Standard and First Class travel, so why not upgrade and make the most of your journey?
