About the station
Water Orton Railway Station serves the village of Water Orton in Warwickshire, a few miles east of Birmingham. The station was first opened in May 1842 by the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway, midway between Birmingham’s Lawley Street and Whitacre.
The immediate effect of the new railway was to cut down the time it took to travel to Birmingham compared to a car journey. In 1908, the station was rebuilt at its present location to avoid a junction at Kingsbury. The new location increased line capacity and meant that trains could now travel through the area even faster, further cutting down on journey times.
The railway station at Water Orton provides self-service ticket machines and has an induction loop fitted to assist the hearing-impaired. The ticket machines are accessible, as is the ticket counter, and ramps to help with train access. A seating area is available between the two platforms and is covered by CCTV.
The station is unstaffed, so travel assistance is provided by the on-train conductors. For more information about how CrossCountry can help please see our priority seating and travel assistance options for your journey.
