Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership and World Heritage UK have launched the first guide to showcase how to visit Britain’s World Heritage Sites by sustainable transport.
Working alongside the Hadrian’s Wall Youth Ambassadors, the initial pilot session came up with lots of ideas to promote rail travel to and around World Heritage sites. The guide encourages people to use public transport rather than the car to visit sites, which supports the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) sustainable development goals to build sustainable communities and take climate action.
Part funded by CrossCountry, the guide was launched at Newcastle Central Station, which provided the perfect opportunity to show connections to Hadrian’s Wall and opportunities to explore the other World Heritage Sites throughout the country.
