Things to do in Nottingham

Nottingham is a city etched in medieval history and contemporary city living, perfectly blending the old and the new. Being located by the famous Shire Forrest and the River Trent adds to the beauty of this incredible city. With something for all ages, Nottingham is an excellent trip whether travelling with family or friends.

If you’re a culture vulture, Nottingham is the city for you. One of the largest contemporary art centres in the UK, Nottingham Contemporary has several exhibitions each year, so on a returning visit you’re likely to find something new. The Nottingham Castle Museum is a must-visit, especially if you’re with the family. You’ll learn all about Robin Hood and his Merry Men, in addition to the castle’s great history and fantastic views over the city. Explore the largest network of manmade caves that secretly meanders below the city for more fascinating medieval history.

I’m sure you’d have worked up an appetite after all this city exploring. Well, Nottingham has a diverse range of vibrant and exciting cuisines to suit all budgets and needs. The city is famous for its Indian restaurants – so famous that it even has its own Curry Quarter. Asides from great curries, you’ll find great food from cuisines originating from across the globe. Family-friendly chains, local family bistros or gourmet Michelin star restaurants – there’s something for everyone here.

Sitting within the city’s medieval and contemporary architecture is a wide variety of shopping. Dotted around the city, you’ll find a huge choice of quirky independent stores and luxury boutiques – we recommend heading over to Hockley. But if it’s well-known high street brands you’re looking for, look no further than the Victoria Centre, the Flying Horse Walk, and the Exchange Arcade.
