About the station
Manchester Piccadilly is one of the busiest train stations outside of London after going through grand renovations between the late 1990s and early 2000s, costing £100 million. Even though there are several stations in Manchester, with 14 platforms and the highest number of travellers, Piccadilly is the central station in the ‘Capital of the North'.
CrossCountry runs many different services in and out of Manchester, with Birmingham to Manchester, Bristol to Manchester, Stoke-on-Trent to Manchester and Oxford to Manchester being some of the most popular.

Things to do in Manchester
The city is labelled the 'Capital of the North' for its vibrant and buzzing atmosphere, packed with fantastic galleries and museums, world-class sport, the UK's 3rd largest shopping centre and much more. What's more, Manchester is nearby to the stunning Lake District, so you won't be short of things to do here.
The city has a fantastic blend of history and culture, being home to an impressive collection of music stars, two world-famous football teams and a massive range of art, film, and theatre hotspots. To soak up the arts, you should visit the HOME arts centre or a concert at Albert Hall and the Opera House. The Museum of Science and Industry, The John Reynolds Library and Manchester Cathedral are well worth the trips to learn more about the city.
Manchester has some of the best shopping on offer in the UK. With a variety of well-known high street stores, stylish designer labels and plenty of boutique stores, you'll find it all here. The Trafford Centre and Manchester Arndale offer shops, cafes and restaurants all under one roof. But if you're looking for something a little different, check out the Northern Quarter for a blend of street art and independent stores.
While you're in the Northern Quarter, you'll be able to grab a coffee at one of the quirky coffee shops and cafes. Manchester is an epicentre of fantastic food and drinks choices. Whether you're looking for a glamourous date night, a family-friendly meal, or to grab a drink with a group of mates, you won't have to search too far.
