Passengers advised to plan ahead and only travel if absolutely necessary on strike days.
- Strike action confirmed for Saturday 1 October, Wednesday 5 October and Saturday 8th
- No CrossCountry services will be in operation on Saturday 1 October and Wednesday 5 October. Passengers should seek alternative modes of transport.
- Limited service in operation on Saturday 8 October due to planned strike action by RMT.
There will be no CrossCountry services on Saturday 1 October due to planned strike action by The Association of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) and Wednesday 5 October due to industrial action planned by ASLEF.
The action will take place across the country resulting in significant disruption across the network.
CrossCountry will run a special industrial action timetable on Saturday 8 October following an announcement by the RMT that they will participate in strike action. There will be 1 train per hour from:
- Birmingham to York
- Manchester to Banbury (not calling at Birmingham International or Coventry due to engineering work)
- Birmingham to Leicester
There will be no other CrossCountry services operating on Saturday 8 October.
Passengers are advised to only travel if their journey is absolutely essential, allowing extra time for their journeys, and to check the CrossCountry website before travelling as there may be last minute alternations and cancellations to services.
Passengers who are due to travel on Sunday 2 October or Sunday 9 October are advised to consider starting their journey later and check their journeys as trains may be starting later.

“We are working closely with industry partners to offer as many services as possible on 8 October and remain committed to working with colleagues so that we can run a robust service for the many people across Great Britain who rely on us
“We strongly advise passengers to check their journeys in advance, as many routes across the UK rail network will be affected. In some situations, it may be better to avoid travelling by train during this time and make alternative arrangements.”

Long-distance train operator CrossCountry has announced adjustments to its timetable from 14 December, as part of the rail industry’s twice-yearly timetable review.
- Giant city centre artwork unveiled on Aire Street in Leeds
- 14-metre-high mural, created by Leeds based artist Elle Koziupa and Global Street Art, celebrates the journeys that have helped shape Leeds
- Photorealism, painterly illustration and graphics combine to depict the textile carts that powered Leeds’ rise to a northern powerhouse, to CrossCountry trains linking the city’s people and culture to the rest of UK today
- CrossCountry will operate a reduced timetable over the Bank Holiday weekend – with no services on Saturday 23 August - due to industrial action by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT)
- Services on Sunday 24 August are also likely to be subject to cancellations across all CrossCountry routes
- Passengers are advised not to travel on Saturday 23 August and to travel on either side of the Bank Holiday weekend, or claim a full refund
