The ASLEF union has announced strike action for CrossCountry drivers on 13 August 2022. As a result, no CrossCountry services will run on this day.
While talks will continue to resolve the strike, CrossCountry is warning passengers of widespread disruption should the strike go ahead.
CrossCountry’s Managing Director, Tom Joyner, said: “While we hope that we can resolve this dispute, we want to give our customers as much notice as possible to plan ahead should the action go ahead.
If there is a strike, we are unlikely to be able to run any services across the network. We are of course, disappointed to be in this position and apologise for the severe disruption it will cause customers.”
There will be no rail replacement buses to replace trains not running because of the strikes. Passengers travelling on the morning of Sunday 14 August should check train times in advance and consider starting their journey later.
Strike action is also taking place at eight other train operators across the country with passengers being urged to plan ahead and check before they travel.

Long-distance train operator CrossCountry has announced adjustments to its timetable from 14 December, as part of the rail industry’s twice-yearly timetable review.

- 14-metre-high mural, created by Leeds based artist Elle Koziupa and Global Street Art, celebrates the journeys that have helped shape Leeds
- Photorealism, painterly illustration and graphics combine to depict the textile carts that powered Leeds’ rise to a northern powerhouse, to CrossCountry trains linking the city’s people and culture to the rest of UK today
- CrossCountry will operate a reduced timetable over the Bank Holiday weekend – with no services on Saturday 23 August - due to industrial action by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT)
- Services on Sunday 24 August are also likely to be subject to cancellations across all CrossCountry routes
- Passengers are advised not to travel on Saturday 23 August and to travel on either side of the Bank Holiday weekend, or claim a full refund
