About the station
Bodmin Parkway railway station is located about four miles southeast of the Cornish town Bodmin. As a parkway station, Bodmin Parkway serves as a park-and-ride interchange rather than serving a town or city centre. The station first opened in 1859 when Bodmin was the county town of Cornwall. Since then, this title moved to Truro in 1990. The station’s original name was Bodmin Road, but this was changed to Bodmin Parkway in 1983.
Facilities at Bodmin Parkway include 70 car parking spaces and is open 24 hours a day. There are also 16 bike stands available which are covered by CCTV. A seating area and baby changing facilities are provided, as is free public Wi-Fi. Toilets are available and this station also offers National Key toilets. A RADAR key is available from station staff on request.
Accessible facilities at Bodmin Parkway include thirteen accessible car parking spaces customer help points, and an induction loop. The ticket machines and the ticket counter are both accessible, and you can collect pre-purchased tickets here. A ramp is available for train access at the station and wheelchairs are available. Things to do in Bodmin
Located in the middle of Cornwall, Bodmin offers a wonderful location from which to explore this beautiful part of the country. The southwest boundary of Bodmin Moor is only a few miles from the town and the perfect area to explore. Bodmin is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a wonderful example of the desolate and windswept beauty of the Cornish countryside.
Within the town itself, you can discover more of the local history at the Bodmin Town Museum. This free and dog-friendly attraction maintains displays on local geology, social history, and the two World Wars.
Bodmin Jail will take you back in time 100 years to experience life in a Victorian prison. Hear the stories and see what life was like from the safety of a 21st-century exhibition. Step back in time a little further with a visit to Bodmin Keep. Built in 1859, the same year as the station, the Keep was home to soldiers in the Duke of Cornwall’s army and played an important role in World War I and II.
There’s so much to see in Bodmin, so make sure you leave plenty of time to explore the rest of this Cornish town and see what else you can find.
